“By continuing this “Victory over yourself” everyday, you will enhance the greatest asset you have which is your spirit, mind, and your body!!”
Make it clear what you want to do each day, what you want to achieve in that day, and write them down everyday.
Once you decide, then make sure you take action towards it.
Try your best to achieve those things in that day.
Making and keeping your own promise everyday is very important to improve as a Martial Artist and as a person.
It is great training and discipline to get the mental toughness and strong will by making and keeping your own meaningful promises.
People who can’t keep their own promise usually can’t keep a promise with other people.
They say they will do something, but they never do. They don’t have discipline or responsibility, so can’t improve as Martial Artists or as a human.
We must take action, and give 100% effort to achieve and accomplish our goals once you decide on them.
Like I wrote in a previous blog, we improve each day by making small efforts everyday, and we get confident in ourselves by doing that everyday, and that will sharpen up our characters.
For example, you decide to go to the dojo or gym today after work.
Even if you get tired or stressed from work, make sure you go there.
If you decide to go to dojo or gym, you can also decide to try to beat your own record from last time, something like you could do only 50 push ups last time, so you will try to do 51 push ups today. Or you could do only 50 punches in 1 minute last time, so you try to do 51 punches today, etc.
Then try your best to really make it.
It’s not necessarily only for exercises.
You can decide to try to finish a project today at your work, or if you are studying something, make sure you learn that chapter today, or clean your room today, or whatever happens today, you will stay calm and won’t get angry, etc.
Even if it is small things, it doesn’t matter.
The most important thing is you decide to do it today, and make sure you do and achieve them today even if you feel its hard, you are tired, or think you have no time to do it.
Don’t try to find excuses.
Give yourself some assignments each day, then challenge yourself by finishing and solving those assignments.
If you achieved them in that day, that means you had victory over yourself.
That will make a big difference rather than just living each day with no goals in mind.
It’s best if you make this assignment one for enhancing your spirit and mind, and one for enhancing your body.
To enhance your spirit and mind, you can try something like I mentioned before such as “Trying to stay calm and not getting angry whatever happens today”, or “Reading some inspiring books today”, etc.
To enhance your body, you can make it as “Going to dojo or gym today” or even “Having a healthy diet today”, etc.
By continuing this “Victory over yourself” everyday, you will enhance the greatest asset you have which is your spirit, mind, and your body!!
